Las Vegas Half Marathon!!! Dec 4, 2011

Las Vegas!!! My home away from home! I know no one will believe me, but it is finally starting to loose it charm for me. Who would have thought. This weekend the Klisser and I headed out to the LV strip for the LV Rock and Roll half marathon! (2nd year in a row doing it, this time the race was at night!!) What an adventure! Not only was the half marathon going on this weekend, but the Rodeo was also in town! I have never seen so many hats and cowboy boots in my life!

Kim, Tracy and I at the Expo. We got out numbers!! Ready to rock the strip! Kim, we wish you could have run with us!!

After the Expo Mishella, Laurie, Travis, Greg and I decided to hit the strip for some "dehydration"

Saturday night Greg, Travis and I went to see KA at the MGM! Most amazing show ever!

Sunday morning Greg and I took it easy and just relaxed. We went and had breakfast and came back to watch some football in the hotel. Since the race didn't start till 5:30, we had a little time on our hands. We finally went down to Tracy and Aarons room around 3 to head over to Mandalay Bay!

Let me tell you, it was 4pm and freezing outside!! We were only imagining what it was going to be like running....

Walking to the starting line at Mandalay Bay
It looked fun at the time!

The girls at the starting line! Tracy, Sharon, Leslie and I! Tracy and Leslie took off down the strip! Sharon and I hung back and took the race at a slower pace.

Way to go Tracy!!! Personal Record of 2 hours and 4 minutes!! We were so proud of you! I can't even imagine running at that speed!

The street was filled with runners!

Somewhere down in Old Vegas, one of the many quickie wedding chapels!

I did it!! Completed in 2 hours and 40 minutes. I had a hard time motivating myself to train this year, so I was impressed just to finish! Next year I need to remember to train!

What a great weekend with friends and family! I can't wait for next year....I think I have the Klisser convinced to do it with me!!

Rice A Roni, the San Francisco treat!!

Welcome to San Francisco!! This weekend Greg, Tana and I took a trip up to the bay area to see IR (Kirsten). What a weekend! Friday we went into the city to play around. Kirsten, Greg and I ended up at The Royal Exchange for lunch and low and behold the CU marching band comes in and starts playing! What a random thing to happen!

The Klisser's in San Fran! So excited.

I had been talking up this bar we had seen on tv called the Tonga Room! I was determind to go. So we met up with good old Sean Hickey and proceeded to the bar. We walk in and OMG, its like a bad Vegas place. Tacky and smells like old dust! But damn were the Mai Tai's yummy!

The boys and their "oh so manly" drinks....Notice the water with G. No it's not an illusion, he was a good boy all weekend and hardly drank! H20 was his friend

Cheers!

Sean was on a mission to collect umbrellas

Told you, Tacky! Built in boat with an actual Monsoon storm that dumps water every 30 minutes.

Pina Colada made for 2. Neither Greg nor IR would partake in the fun times, so that left Sean and I

It was perfect fall weather! Scarfs and jackets!

Greg running up hill with IR on his back. He was really running!

This is the restaurant that Greg has RAVED about for a year. We were lucky enough to get to eat there.

Look who got into town!! Miss T! Out at "That Bar" a dueling piano bar

 Water again!!.....Oh Gregory!

3 Company!!

The next day we all woke up, not early might I add, and went on a 2 hour adventure to Amy's house!! From there we were off to Sonoma Wine Country! Wine tasting!!

First stop: Fritz Winery, its actually built into the side of a mountain!

Second stop: Ferrari-Carano. Beautiful winery with a not so pleasant women pouring the tastings. T out loudly called her "BLANCHE". They 20 people around us all started cracking up...Blanche didn't find it so funny :)

Third stop: Truitt-Hurst. Tana became a wine memeber!!  This had to have been our favorite winery! There was not a wine on the list that we didn't like. This winery is on a farm with a creek running through it. And the crazy thing was that the salmon were swimming up stream right in front of us. They even give you cool salmon glasses to wear :)
It helps you see the salmon better......shockingly it does!

Here fishy fishy!!! I don't see them!!! Do you?

"There's no fish in here, this is stupid" Amy and I were not impressed. We didn't see anything....until Greg, Tana and IR came down and oh so easily pointed them out to us....They were everywhere!!

Thank you so much to IR and Amy for having us up this weekend and letting us invade your homes!! We love you and had the best time! Our stomachs still hurt from laughing so much!

The Klissers invade New York!!

Ahh the big apple!! What can you say about the concrete jungle? This place is absolutely amazing!! We flew out to watch Mishella run the ING New York Marathon on Sunday November 6th! She did amazing!26.2 miles and still had a smile on her face at the end!
We started our journey on Wednesday night with the red-eye flight. Let me tell you 5 am is too early to land! After getting our bags, meeting at Laurie's house and freshening up we finally hit the pavement for some much needed exploring. We meet Greg in the city (it was the first time I had seen him in a week, so needless to say I was a happy girl!) We shopped around Time Square, hung out at Bryant Park, went to Rockefeller Center, went to the "Top of the Rock". We did a lot of walking this day! That night Greg and I took the train to Jersey to stay with Dre for the night. We were in such a rush to make our train that we forgot my entire suitcase in the back of the cab!! Luckly, the cabbie remembered and honked at us to get our attention! Whoops!

Each year at New Years they drop confetti on Times Square. Well, you are able to write you hopes and dreams for the new year on one of the confetti and it will be dropped with the rest at midnight!!

The view from the Top of the Rock
Yah, I jacked G's glasses! They look better on me :)

FRIDAY!

The next morning Greg, Dre and I went to the Statue of Liberty. What an amazing site to see, but to be honest after you stand and look at it for a few minutes you are bored and want off the island.

Greg is trying to take a picture through the eye holes!! Wait till you see it!
We finally made it back into the city to check into our hotel. We stayed at the Hamptons in Soho. Not too shabby! It felt clean and new, and that is all I needed!! But, dear god the rooms in New York are SMALL! The room was hardly big enough to fit a king bed and two night stands. We had to step over our luggage.

Friday night we went to Central Park where they were having the opening ceremonies for the race. The did a parade of nations, so all of the countries that are participating in the run could be recgonized. Mishella was selected as the Guam deligate, so she got to wave her countries flag proudly!

 There's our girl!!
She was so proud!

We ended the night having dinner at a Churrascaria Riodizio Tribeca. We should have known when they didn't give us menus when they seated us that we were in for a surprise. The food was amazing. Men carrying huge slabs of beef, chicken, lamb and pig come by, what seems like every minute, asking you if you want some. You never have to leave your table, your food comes to you! After drinks, dessert and coffee we got the bill....$350 for 3 people!!! YIKES! All we could do was laugh.

The boys and their meat!
SATURDAY!

Saturday our friend Shauna came to hang out with us in the city! We met Mishella, Carlo and his mom down near the World Trade Center. What a surreal site to see. They only problem is they block off the site with a fence. You have to "book a tour" to be able to see inside. Yet, the tours are booked 2 weeks out. So we got to see a fence!

Like everything else in New York, there is a fence around the bull. 4 beautiful ladies! Shauna, Carlo's mom, Mishella and I

Grab the bull by the balls!

We are walking down the street and we hear this loud comotion. About 20 people are covered head to toe in velcrow suits and they have "Perky Jerky" stuck to them. All they ask is that you "pluck" it off them!

We walked by the Occupy Wall Street protesters. It looks like a homeless city! People in the middle of Wall Street with tents, canopys and sleeping bags. All that was missing was people playing hackie sack!
Mishella was determined to "carb load" herself before the race so we all met in Little Italy for an Italian fest on Saturday night. After dinner Carlo kissed Mishella goodnight and we all sent her in a cab back to the hotel to sleep while we went out and played! The Standard hotel in New York has a beer garden that is suppose to mimick Germany. Bitburger on tap!! Brought me back to Europe!

Dinner in Little Italy
Thirsty boy at the beer garden!

Yahhh Bitburger!! Just like in Germany. Cheers!
SUNDAY!

Sunday morning was filled with brunch and mimosas with Dre (I was so excited that I had a mimosa and Sangria buddy in New York!) It was the day of the race so after brunch we rushed in a cab to make it up to mile 23 of the race to see Mishella go by. Well after standing there for an hour we began to wonder where she was! Since the tracking device that I spent $3 on to track Mishella wasn't working, I had to text Tracy in San Diego to find out where Mishella was....She had passed us!!! She passed us and we didn't even see her! We were so bummed!

Mimosas in a Mason jar!! Love it!!
But......where's Mishella!!??

We ended Sunday as we always do...with Sunday Funday in the Village. Dre, Greg and I found a bar that had loads of tvs, beer pong, happy hour all night, karaoke, and they let you order food to be delivered to the bar! Chicken wings!!! The boys had a great time playing beer pong and watching foot ball....Thank you too all our friends that we got to see and hang out with this weekend. It was truly a weekend to remember!!

The boys outside of Wicked Willey, in their bike cab.  Thats the bouncer that for some reason loved them :)
Please excuse the blurry pictures. Most were taken from our phones. Our camera died and some blonde girl forgot the charger!

Beer pong champion!

New York, we loved you so much!! Don't worry the Klisser's are already RSVPing for next year!!!
