Holiday Treats....I can't stay away from them

24/25wks

Hit a big milestone last week. We are officially over 24 wks!! 25w1d to be exact. With all of the contractions going on and all of the unknown, 24wks was just something I strived for. 24wks is viability!! If she had to come early (which she is not!!) then 24wks is the earliest time that doctors would intervene and we could do everything we could to help her out. To surpass that first milestone has been such a relief! Next milestone 28wks!

It is amazing how fast time has flown by. It's hard to think that I have been sitting around for over 6 wks now. I have been quite entertained with friends and family stopping by, old CSI episodes, cupcakes and brownies. And Henley has certainly made her presence known in the past 2 wks. She is quite the kicker. I love it! It is so neat to sit around and watch my belly move.

So this being my first pregnancy I have the privilege (not so sure about that) of being introduced to all the new things that come with it. I call them the Pregnancy "really s?" (Sorry these might be a little personal)

  • My poor body. I am certainly starting to see the effects of no working out. Slowly but surly the dimples on my legs and butt have come into view. Small little love handles are making there way out. And my muscle tone is starting to dwindle.
  • When you are craving something you don't care what shape it is in. So I have found that stale cereal still makes for a great lunch. You just have to REALLY drown it in milk..(I wasn't about to go to the store to buy new cereal)
  • Romance is out the door. I no longer have control over my bowels, per say. I have now turned into a gas machine. To the point where I will just be walking and it comes out. I know women somewhat warn you of that, but come on this is ridiculous!
  • Dolly Parton I am coming for you! Ok, so I finally gave in and got fitted for new bras 2 wks ago. She measured me at at 36E! I'm only 25wks. I don't even have my milk in yet!...and the worst part is that was 2 wks ago....The bras are actually cutting into me now!
  • Poor Greg has finally gotten to see what pregnancy hormones are all about. I will wake up at 3 in the morning, wake Greg up and start bawling uncontrollably because I am scared he is going to leave me, or die and I will have to do this all on my own. Or if I see anything to do with animals I lose it and the floodgates open. For instance, a friend put on facebook that these dogs needed a good home or they would be put down. I went on the website just to take a look, and after looking at 2 dogs, started crying to the point that I couldn't breathe! I was crying to Greg that we had to save them all, they are going to die, they are so cute, they need our help! I cried so much about it I woke up the next morning with the bloodshot dots under my eyes.
  • I know I said that I would eat healthy and try to stay on track with that, but nothing about salad sounds great. The only thing I think about all day long is what do I get to eat for dessert? Cupcakes and brownies have been my kryptonite. As much as I try to listen to my inner voice and stay away, I always find myself straying to the cupboard. (and I know the holiday treats aren't going to help!) Damn you chocolate and sugar!
Welly hanging out with his sister. He has become quite attached to my belly. He loves to cuddle right next to it

  1. Hard to discribe but it is all soo true! Hang in there! This is all just temporarly. Enjoy it as much as you can as after the pregnancy is gone, you will sometimes wish baby was still inside as she is with you 24 hrs a day now, believe me! after she comes out you will miss her in there :) specially when you have to leave her with someone else because you have to run an errand or because you go back to work :(
I am soo happy you are at your 25 wks now despite all the challenges you look great!!

  2. Just know that is all normal. But what the REAL kicker is that once the baby comes out, you STILL are crazy for a little while (like 2 -3 months) and then your body TOTALLY sucks and is NEVER the same. Being 33 and having a baby really sets things into a WHOLE new category of working out. I will officially have to do those insanity videos for 8 hours a day now to get back into my old clothes. You are lucky and are small and petite and always had a great body so I know you will bounce back fast. But DONT try too soon or your body will tell you to wait, mine did and I bleed out like a stuffed pig! LOL. You look great and so happy you made that milestone. I had 2 friends have mild contractions their entire pregnancy and worked as nurses so be thankful you are able to be home and rest. But one thing, dont focus soooo much on the bad. It will only make you worry. Try to keep on the good. It will go soooo fast and then you wont even remember but it was like to be bored! :)
